Level 5 Higher Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management
Tourism is the world’s largest industry with revenues of over $500 billion. The programme begins with studying the business environment in which all organisations operate. As the tourism sector is vast, focus is placed on IT and operations management within the industry.
Course Structure:
Eight Compulsory Units:
• The Business Environment
• Organisational Behaviour
• Travel, Tourism and Hospitality
• IT in Hospitality and Tourism Operations
• Managing the Customer Relationship
• Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Operations Management
Plus Two Units from:
• Principles of Business Law
• Human Resource Management
• Marketing Policy, Planning and Communication
• Sales Management
Entry Requirements:
Prospective students must have one of the following:
• An ABE Level 4 Diploma
• Two level 3 passes (‘A’ level standard)
• A level 3 qualification, or above, as notified on the NQF or QCF of the United Kingdom.
• Overseas qualifications, as judged by UK NARIC, to be equivalent in standard to a level 3 qualification in the UK
• In absence of formal entry qualifications, but there is appropriate employment for at least two years. A signed reference letter from employers must accompany all such applications.
• International: IELTS 4.5 band in each component; or other UKBA approved test
Assessment
3 hour Final Examination will be with the awarding body ABE, at one of their examination centres.
Progression
Students have the choice to use this Diploma to do the following:
• Apply for a Job – where a level 5 qualification is sufficient
• Progress to the Graduate Diploma level – which is equivalent to the second year of a degree programme. This will allow you to gain further knowledge and develop more skills demanded by employers and universities.
