LCBMIT Students Meet the Mayor of Waltham Forest

Student Ambassadors of LCBMIT were fortunate to spend a day at the Chamber of Cllr Masood Ahmed, Mayor of Waltham Forest, on 9th of  December 2010.

These visits are designed to develop increased motivation as well as the skills of the students, such as confidence and public speaking skills. Students were able to discuss with Mayor Cllr Masood Ahmad to gain a deeper insight into the world of politics and learn more about the events that will be taking place in the Borough.

The Mayor shared some of his life experiences, of his time in the UK as a foreign student, attaining many accomplishments including becoming a local councilor and eventually the Mayor. He          encouraged our students to believe in themselves, and stressed the fact that although they are from disadvantaged backgrounds it should not prevent them from realizing their true potential.

For his leadership as Councilor and Mayor, a donation of £1000.00 was made to the Mayors Charity, by the CEO of LCBMIT, Toaha Qureshi MBE.

Further visits for students are being scheduled.
