Schools and Colleges
We endeavour to remove the barriers that Schools and Colleges face with other higher education institutions. Having faced similar challenges, the College has built its reputation in the higher education sector. The aim to completely remove these barriers and support Schools and Colleges is one of the drivers behind the College’s objective to become a University by the year 2020.
The College has applied for accreditation from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), the UK Higher education body that advises the government on applications for degree awarding powers and the University title.
Although we offer A-level equivalent courses, we see ourselves our as Your Higher Education Partner.
As the independent educational body of Stockwell Green Community Services (SGCS), a registered charity, we are committed to providing young people with affordable undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our work with schools and colleges are largely part of our widening participation initiatives.
Our work is primarily to raising awareness of, and aspirations to, higher education, working with students from primary schools, secondary schools, and those who may have dropped out of school, and helping raise their attainment levels.
We can support Schools and Colleges through the following initiatives:
• Open days for A-level students – to find out more about our campus facilities, courses, and LCBMIT in general
• Visits to schools/colleges – to speak to primary school students, year 10/11 students and A-level students before applying for A-level or undergraduate courses
• Marketing – leaflets for schools on all aspects of the application process and about our programmes of study
• Summer Schools – we can arrange taster lectures for students and introduce them to life in higher education
• Mentoring Scheme – our student ambassadors can mentor students for preparation of higher education life
We welcome any new ideas from you as to how we might support your School/College in givng your students the best possible choice for higher education.
We have designed our own Level 4 SEED Diploma, a preparatory course to help young people and adults re-enter education. It is awarded by LCBMIT and will be endorsed by The Association of Business Executives (ABE). It contains 4 units included personal development and further details will be provided soon.
